How We Got Here

It all began in 2014 when a KCBS bbq competition came to my hometown, Woodward, OK.  Being a lover of bbq, I had to get involved.  I immediately attended a class to become a certified bbq judge and judged Woodward’s first contest.  Having tasted some world class bbq that day, I was instantly hooked. 

In May of 2015, I spent numerous hours researching bbq smokers.  When I finally settled on the one I wanted, I found one in Oklahoma City.  The following day I bought my first competition smoker and it was game on!  I purchased some rub and meat, and my son and I drove to Hays, Kansas for our first competition. 

While at each competition that year I realized I had been competing against the guy I had bought my rubs from. I didn’t feel right about that.  So, I went home and turned my wife’s kitchen into a laboratory, on a venture of creating my own bbq rub.  The following year I competed with “The Original” rub and started winning awards.  I actually beat the guy I had been buying rubs from.  Pretty cool!  In early 2019, after years of tweaking it, I finally got it to the point of perfection.  As a result of this quality product, I decided to blend it, bottle it, and offer it to you. 

Through the years of development. I have had numerous people tell me they used “The Original” on many different food items, and loved it on items I hadn’t even thought of.  That’s cool too!

All of these products have been put to the test, and each one has proved to be exceptionally quality products.  I wouldn’t sell it if it wasn’t.
